Pre mill units on the Akron 1300 use 80mm cutterheads with PCD diamond cutting surfaces to joint the panel edge before banding is applied. PCD inserts provide excellent surface quality and extended tool life compared to standard carbide. Replacement PCD inserts are available separately to support ongoing production without replacing the full cutterhead unit.
